Oh so green: why we are interested in leafy workshop walls

15%
more humidity
25%
less fine dust – at least!
25–50 cm
depth is required for the garden on the wall

Modern workshops think beyond welding equipment and diagnostic tools – they also consider the climate, the acoustics and the general well-being of their employees. cotedo is currently testing how vertical gardens can be implemented in workshop interiors. Sounds unusual? Perhaps. But we know about the stresses and strains of everyday workshop life. And we know that good working conditions are created not only by technology, but also by the environment.

Challenge: Stresses and strains such as noise, dust and dry air are underestimated

Everyday workshop life is characterised by a high level of background noise, fairly low humidity and a demanding environment. This creates a fatiguing effect that has a negative impact on employee concentration, health and motivation. At the same time, many wall surfaces – especially above work surfaces or cabinets – remain unused.

Solution: Vertical gardens – for climate, acoustics and well-being

We are currently checking out systems for vertical gardens with hydro or substrate culture. That may sound challenging but they can actually be easily integrated into new buildings and are also conceivable for renovations. All you need is constant temperatures, humidity, a water cycle and some good planning.

Thanks to modern technology no-one has to constantly tend to the "wall garden": targeted LED lighting, sensor-controlled irrigation and durable materials ensure low maintenance and contribute to the company's sustainability strategy. The design is flexible, with thematically coordinated planting and robust, easy-care surfaces.

Result: A multi-talented tool for better working conditions

Our goal: technology that enriches rather than disrupts everyday life, to create better conditions for workshop employees. Planted walls absorb sound, improve the indoor climate and have been proven to increase well-being through visual relaxation, reduced fine particle pollution and a more pleasant atmosphere.

We do not concern ourselves with gimmicks but with solutions. And we do not mind if they are a little unusual sometimes. So if a green wall will contribute to productivity, it is on our list.
