Productive assemblies do not necessarily start on a Monday. The Becker Tiemann car dealers in northern Germany are currently renovating several workshop areas. At their site in Versmold, they were going to install a new lifting platform. A routine project really, had it not been for that floor slab that turned out to be too thin. In the end, the problem was solved through teamwork and boot space.
In order to avoid costly earthworks, new concreting and long curing times, a decision was made to install the new lifting platform on the existing floor slab. A pragmatic solution – until towards the end of the construction week, it became apparent that the floor slab was too thin.
Delivering a new levelling slab via a shipping company would have taken several days. Several days of downtime. Several days without a usable platform. And thus, less productivity in workshop operations. Not good: in a renovation project, every single day counts.
Time to stop talking and get going. Our colleague Helmut Buchwald, Senior Automotive Consultant at cotedo, jumped in his car, drove to the nearby representative of the car lift manufacturer, loaded the floor levelling plate (they weigh around 200 kilograms!) and brought it to Versmold himself.
The plate was unloaded on site, measured there and then, and was ready for installation over the weekend. No additional waiting time, no unnecessary delays. Sometimes the best solution is the one that is nearest.

The workshop was fully operational in no time at all. No extended conversion phase, no redistribution of repairs and the associated disruptions and delays in repairs. Instead, we saw a smooth operation with improved productivity.
For the Becker Tiemann workshop, this means a quick return to normality and no unnecessary downtime. And of course, satisfied workshop employees who are delighted with the new equipment.
