When online meetings just won’t do: why our consultants travel so much

60,000 kilometres
in a car, every year
100+ nights in hotels
is part of the deal
20 white shirts
are needed as minimum equipment

Cairo. The sun is beating down. Things are heating up at the car dealership too, though fortunately only in a figurative sense: The switch to the new, very heavy high-voltage batteries requires major modifications, which are not always easy to implement in older buildings. So our colleague Christian Heemann packs his bags and sets off for Egypt. Because sometimes you just have to be there in person.

Challenge: Complex projects require a physical presence

Of course, we also offer online consultations whenever possible, not least for the sake of the environment. But if we are needed on site, we will make the trip. And that is actually quite common.

We’re just as much ‘at home’ on the construction site of a technician training centre in Swabia as we are in a car dealership showroom in Athens or during a workshop audit in Vilnius. Or whilst checking existing building structures in Cairo. As a result, our working day never becomes routine.

Solution: Building personal rapport and trust

This tremendous personal commitment is essential, as our clients have benefited for almost 20 years from consultants who do not merely deliver concepts, but who stay the course and actively drive projects forward themselves, right through to completion and beyond.

Christian Heemann, Senior Consultant at cotedo, explains his commitment as follows:

The new high-voltage batteries are replaced as a whole, not repaired in modules. The batteries are huge and very heavy. In order to assess whether the logistics alone are feasible, and to find new solutions if necessary, I need to check the facilities on site.

The result: Worn-out wheels on the suitcase – and happy customers

Our clients appreciate our dedication; we are welcomed everywhere with the utmost hospitality. And through cross-cultural collaboration, we learn something new every day. When a project comes to an end, we always return home knowing that the effort was worthwhile for both sides.

But despite all the hustle and bustle, it is important to strike the right balance in the end. That is why we make a conscious effort to ensure that our employees’ work and rest are in harmony.

You need us in person – here, there or somewhere else? Or just a hotel recommendation for Cairo? 🙂
